Helicarg Indonesia support Amoseas' Geothermal Power Plant Project in Indonesia
Dear Readers, PROJECT OVERVIEW: An Indonesian joint venture is currently holding talks regarding the expansion of a geothermal power plant in the country. The partners in the planned undertaking include PT PERUSAHAAN LISTRIK NEGARA (PLN) and AMOSEAS INDONESIA a subsidiary of US-based CHEVRON TEXACO. AMOSEAS INDONESIA currently operates a geothermal field in Darajat, West Java, which generates 150 Mw of electricity. According to Ali Herman Ibrahim, PLN Director (Generating & Primary Energy), the partners are now in the final stage of negotiation regarding an expansion of 150 Mw. As a result, the parties hope to reach a deal as soon as possible. The proposed development is part of PLN's efforts to increase electricity supply to avoid shortages in the world's fourth most populous country where power demand is estimated to be growing at a rate of about 10 % per year. The planned geothermal expansion, of undisclosed cost, is estimated to be a competitive and efficient project.
